Death By a Thousand Pricks?

This is a really remarkable statement by Mary Matalin:

Cheney's Response A Concern In GOP: "Mary Matalin, a Cheney adviser who has helped him deal with the shooting fallout, rejected suggestions that the White House's handling of the incident might result in political damage. 'We have a history replete with evidence to the contrary,' she said. 'Every time we've had predictions of monumental liability, it never occurred.'"

True, she's just a consigliere. But the behavior of the administration during this scandal points to no other conclusion but that they share her view. They haven't been held accountable in the past no matter how brazen their actions, so why worry?
